Meet Our Photographers
Douglas Miller has been a photographer since the age of 15. At 16 years of age he started his own company, Douglas Miller Photography, and began shooting portraits, weddings, and parties. Shortly thereafter, he began working for the Vinton Messenger Newspaper. It was during this time that he realized he wanted a career in editorial and commercial work.
Doug's early work included the Salem Raiders hockey team, The Roanoker Magazine, Dominion Bank, Roanoke College. At the age of 21, Doug attended the Ohio Institute of Photography and the Portfolio Center of Atlanta. Upon finishing school, he returned to Roanoke, shooting for The Roanoker Magazine, Virginia Business Magazine, local colleges, and Liaison International Photo Agency, now Getty, in New York City.
After working in New York City and Washington, D.C., Doug returned to Roanoke where he works for The Roanoker Magazine, Blue Ridge Country, Mountain Homes. Additionally, Doug has worked on national assignments including U.S. Sprint, UPS, Phillip Morris, Miller Brewing, National Geographic Society, Metropolitan Opera, Getty Images, Target, Fed X, UVA, NASCAR and Parade Magazine. From his Roanoke office, he continues to shoot local and national assignments while focusing on art Photography, and teaching. Doug has chosen the Roanoke area for its quality of life.
